REINZ: Inflation eases but cost pressures still shape property decisions

Stats NZ's September-quarter CPI showed annual inflation easing to 3.7%, from 4.1% in June. REINZ says the moderation is welcome, but inflation remains above the Reserve Bank's 1–3% target band and household cost pressures continue.

REINZ also notes that new-home construction costs were 3.2% higher year on year. Alongside the mortgage-rate outlook, those costs affect housing affordability and buyer confidence.
